165. Switching devices / transferring data (with SD card on Android)

There are several ways to transfer data between devices in ibisPaint.
Using Dropbox: data transferring on Dropbox is easy to understand. It can be done using a telephone line, but we recommend using WiFi especially if you have many works to transfer. The transfer is only for the artwork file.
Using SD card on Android: Copy artwork files over using an SD card. Both devices (i.e., device that contains the data and the device to be copied to) must run on Android.
Using PC on iOS: Copy artwork files using iTunes. Both devices (i.e., device that contains the data and the device to be copied to) must run on iOS.

Here, we explain how you can transfer files to another Android device using an SD card. Unlike transferring data using Dropbox, this method has the advantage of being able to back up multiple files at once, without using online connection. However, this method may be difficult to follow if the device is running an old Android version, and if the user is unfamiliar with certain computer functions. In this case, we recommend using Dropbox.

With the Android version of ibis Paint, you can choose to save the artwork file on the device's internal storage, or on the SD card. In order to determine whether it is possible to save on your SD card, tap on ① … in My Gallery.

Here, if you see the option to "Change Save Folder to Internal Storage" or "Change Save Folder to External Storage", then you can save on the SD card. If "Change Save Folder to Internal Storage" displays, then it means the current save folder is already the SD card, so nothing needs to changed. If it says, "Change Save Folder to External Storage", then the current save folder is set to the internal storage; in this case, please tap on "Change Save Folder to External Storage". By doing this, all of the artwork files will be moved to the SD card.
If the menu displays, "Change Save Folder to Internal Storage No.1", or "Change Save Folder to Internal Storage No.2", it is impossible to save files directly from ibis Paint to an SD card. In this case, you will have to first store the files in internal storage No.2, and then using a file management application for the OS, manually move the artwork files (IPV) into your SD card. If it says, "Change Save Folder to Internal Storage No.1", it means it is already set to store in internal storage No.2, therefore you will not have to change anything. If it says "Change Storage Folder to Internal Storage No.2", please tap on that button. All of the artwork files will then be moved to internal storage No.2. Then press "Display Storage Folder Path" to make a note of the path. Then open the file management application specific the OS, navigate to that path, select all the IPV files, and copy them to the SD card with the copy function. The procedures around here depend on the file management application that is specific to the OS, so we are unable to explain further here.

After making the save destination an external storage, or copying the artwork file (IPV) to the SD card using the file management application, press and hold the power button on the device to turn off the power. Then remove the SD card.

If you insert an SD card into the target Android device, start by powering on the device, and open ibis Paint and open My Gallery. If a message appears saying "Found a new artwork file at the external storage.", press OK. Then the files will be moved to the internal storage of the device.
If this message does not appear, tap … button in My Gallery and select "Display Storage Folder Path" or "Display Import Folder Path", to make a note of the path. Select all of the SD card's artwork files (IPV) with the file management application specific to the OS and copy the files to the path you noted in the copy function. When you open My Gallery in ibis Paint, the copied artwork files will be displayed.
Since transferring using a SD card on Android devices is difficult, so we recommend using Dropbox.
