To add audio and other elements to an animation artwork in ibisPaint, you need to convert the animation artwork to "Video Mode". Here, we will show you how to convert to Video Mode and explain the basic operations in Video Mode.
※ For information on how to use audio tracks, see "Animation Feature: Audio Tracks in Video Mode".
On the animation screen, tap ①[ ︙ Button ] and select ②[ Add Audio Track ].
A popup will appear. Tap ③[ Convert ].
Please note the following when converting:
The file selection dialog will open. Select an audio file or video file. If you select a video file, only the audio will be added as a clip; the video content will not be added.
The artwork has been converted to Video Mode and an audio track has been added.
In Video Mode, ①[ Timeline ] is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
②[ Time Ruler ] shows time markers.
③[ Playhead ] indicates the current playback position. It is fixed at the center of the timeline.
④[ Track ] is a row that contains each clip.
⑤[ Clip ] is each element arranged within a track. The types of clips that can be placed vary depending on the type of track.
Moving the Playback Position
Drag the timeline ①[ left or right ] to move the playback position.
Tap ②[ Play Button ] to play the artwork. Tap the screen while playing to stop.
Changing the Time Scale
On mobile or tablet devices, you can pinch in/out on the timeline to zoom in/out on the time scale.
With a keyboard, you can also use ⌘ + Mouse Wheel on Mac/iPhone/iPad, or Ctrl + Mouse Wheel on Android/Windows.
Changing the Bar Height
Drag the Time Ruler on the timeline to expand or shrink the display area.
Expanding the display area makes it easier to edit clips, while shrinking it lets you focus on drawing on the canvas.
Video Mode currently has two types of tracks.
①[ Drawing Track ]: Displays drawing clips. Drawing clips are placed on the drawing track aligned to the left with no gaps.
②[ Audio Track ]: Displays audio clips. Audio clips can be placed at any position on the audio track.
Selecting a Track
Tap a track to select it; the track background will turn light blue.
Tapping a clip will also select the track that clip belongs to.
Adding a Track
Tap ③[ ︙ Button ] on the timeline and select ④[ the track you want to add ].
※ For information on how to use each track, see the following pages.
・Animation Feature: Audio Tracks in Video Mode
Track Settings
Tap the ⑤[ Track Marker ] to open the settings window for that track.
(Currently, there is no settings window for drawing tracks.)
For details, see "Animation Feature: Audio Tracks in Video Mode".
Deleting a Track
You can delete the selected track from the Track Settings window, or by selecting ⑦[ Delete Audio Track ] from ⑥[ ︙ Button ].
An animation artwork requires at least one drawing track. If there is only one drawing track, it cannot be deleted.
Here, we will explain the basic clip operations using drawing clips (clips displayed in the drawing track) as an example.
Selecting a Clip
When you select a clip, ①[ Current Clip Marker ] appears.
Adding a Clip
You can add a new drawing clip after the currently selected drawing clip.
Select ②[ Clip ] and tap ③[ Add Button ].
A new drawing clip with the same number of frames as the selected clip will be added after the selected drawing clip.
Moving a Clip
④[ Long-press ] a clip to lift it up, then ⑤[ drag ] to move it.
Clips can be moved within tracks of the same type.
Changing the Duration
⑦[ Drag ] the ⑥[ Handle ] on the current clip marker to change the display duration of the clip.
Since drawing clips are always displayed aligned to the left, you cannot leave gaps between clips. Instead, add a clip with no content and adjust its duration.
Clip Settings
Tap ⑧[ the selected clip ] to open the [ Clip Settings Window ] for that clip.
The available settings differ depending on the type of clip. The following are the settings for drawing clips.
⑨[ Duration ]: Shows the duration of the selected clip. Duration changes in frame increments.
⑩[ Frame Count ]: Adjusts the number of frames for which the selected clip is displayed.
The Clip Settings Window can also be opened from the menu that appears when you tap [ ︙ Button ] while a clip is selected.
For audio clips, the Clip Settings Window lets you set the volume, and duplicate the clip or re-select the audio.
For details, see "Animation Feature: Audio Tracks in Video Mode".
Select ②[ Animation Settings ] from ①[ ︙ Button ] to open the [ Animation Settings Window ].
Here, you can configure settings for the entire animation artwork.
Enabling ③[ Snap Clip ] makes clips snap to the edges of other clips or to the playhead position when you move or resize them.
④[ Volume ]: Sets the overall volume of the artwork.
For adjusting the volume of each audio track or each audio clip, see "Animation Feature: Audio Tracks in Video Mode".
For playback mode and onion skin, see "Create an animation".
To export a video in a format such as MOV or MP4, tap ①[ Back ] and select ②[ Save Animated Video ].
In the [ Save Video ] window, tap ③[ Save ] to begin exporting the video file.
If you upload the exported video to the Online Gallery, the audio will be cut.
If you want to move a Video Mode artwork to ibisPaint on another device and continue editing it, you need to export it as an IPVZ file.
You cannot continue editing from a video file such as MOV or MP4.
In the artwork zoom view, tap ①[ Share button ] and select ②[ ibisPaint Project (IPVZ) ] to export the editing data in IPVZ format.
To open it on another device, tap the IPVZ file in a file manager app and open it in ibisPaint.
